Gene Mayer started the 34th St Garage in 1990. Prior to that, he owned 2 previous shops, one in Ballard and one in Edmonds. Gene has been an automotive shop owner since 1973. He is ASE certified, master technician and has taught automotive at the community college level.
Honesty is the most important part of the success and longevity of his business. Gene has a passion for cars, especially hot rods. His hot rod restoring business has grown with a very loyal customer base.
Gene’s reputation for his incredible knowledge of diagnosing and “fixing it right the first time” is undisputed.

Kai Baerd is our Service Manager, 34th Street Garage is a family-owned and operated auto repair shop in Seattle. The company has been serving its Ballard,Queen Anne,Magnolia,and Seattle area customers for over 30 years with high quality work and excellent customer service. Kai, our Service Manager has many years of experience in the automotive industry that he uses to help his customers understand their vehicle's needs. Kai has helped thousands of satisfied customers keep their vehicles safe and on the road by offering honest advice about repairs and maintenance services while providing top notch service with competitive prices.This has earned him an excellent reputation on SureCritic for his work ethic, knowledge, customer service skills, and dependability.
Chris Hardy has been our Light Auto Repair Technician since 2015. His family has been bringing their cars to the 34th Street Garage since Chris was a baby and he hasn't been able to stay away from the glitz and glamor of automotive repair ever since. He started working at the garage as soon as he turned 18, and now he's here every day with his team of mechanics helping people get back on the road quickly and at a more reasonable cost than other auto repair garages in town. Chris has been attending every automotive repair class available so he can become a Certified Master Tech.
Andy Hyatt is our Lead ASE Master Technician, at 34th Street Garage Andy has been working in the automotive industry for more than 24 years, with his skills ranging from suspension to electrical work. He graduated from SSCC’s two year program in automotive technology and specializes in building his own tools that he uses on odd jobs. In his spare time, Andy loves to travel, go on road trips, play sports (especially basketball), and watch movies. Andy’s goal in life is to Live, Learn, Love and to Laugh more. He plans to stick to his current career until he wins the big jackpot!
Gene Mayer - Has Offically Retired ! This Automotive Renaissance Man started in the industry working for his dad since we was 12 years old and has lived and breathed automotive ever since. He started his first shop in 1973. You may still see Gene once in awhile in Magnolia when he stops by the shop for a cup of coffee.
